To that end, the Department of Public Safety took a hard look at the way we were responding to overdose calls and searched for the best way to link individuals with the appropriate care and treatment to address their disease of substance use disorder. Over the last year, the team consisted of a paramedic and social worker who responded to the hospital emergency room to engage residents who had just experienced an overdose in hopes of linking them with treatment.

We just opened a site in Westerville in November and establishing it has been up and down but now we are at a decline and I fear we may have to abandon ship. As for our classes we do keep As for our classes we do keep sizes low at 5 and do NOT ask the students to do breaths if they do not feel comfortable.

We demonstrate and talk about he breaths but do not require mouth to mouth. We use our hand held BVMs for ventilation. Each student is a 6ft distance and manakins are rotated and bleached after each each use as well as gloves being worn.

We also go over PPE and have open discussions of the coronavirus and discuss fears, myths, and concerns. I have also incorporated a demonstration on how to make your own hand sanitizers per CDC guidelines and go over proper hand washing.
