Whenever something large and horrible happens, rumors start flying, especially on the first day.
Some of those rumors will be reported as fact. Stay skeptical. The initial speculations will be useless. When the press trades in news, you have to carefully sort the well-sourced stories from the less credible ones. When it trades in speculation, on the other hand, you should feel free to ignore everything for 24 hours, if not longer. Chances are small that you'll learn anything, unless you're itching for a lesson in confirmation bias. And so, naturally, people have rushed to assume that we were dealing with either the second coming of Timothy McVeigh or the second coming of Osama bin Laden.
If they have a worldview where right-wing extremists are especially frightening, they might point out portentously that the explosions occured on Tax Day and Patriots' Day; if they have a worldview centered around the fear of Islam, they find reasons to assume that Muslims must be responsible. Evidently they have a special smell. Jones came in for a lot of mockery, as well he should. But none of these people knew what they were talking about.
As I write, no one has claimed responsibility for the blasts. The police, meanwhile, are keeping their suspicions close to the vest. This could turn out to be a right-wing or Islamist attack, but it could easily turn out to be something completely different.
A movement doesn't need to be big or famous to commit murder. The inveterate dishonesty of the jewsmedia is a reflection of jewish nature and the illegitimacy of jewish rule. Why is the jewsmedia afraid of questions, discussion, debate and opinion forming outside the jewsmedia?
FBI — Photos. This has been most obvious in the context of recent mass shootings. If recent history is any guide, if the bomber ends up being a white anti-government extremist, white privilege will likely mean the attack is portrayed as just an isolated incident — one that has no bearing on any larger policy debates.
Put another way, white privilege will work to not only insulate whites from collective blame, but also to insulate the political debate from any fallout from the attack.
White privilege is knowing that even if the Boston Marathon bomber turns out to be white, his or her identity will not result in white folks generally being singled out for suspicion by law enforcement, or the TSA, or the FBI. White privilege is knowing that even if the bomber turns out to be white, no one will call for whites to be profiled as terrorists as a result, subjected to special screening, or threatened with deportation.
White privilege is knowing that if the bomber turns out to be white, he or she will be viewed as an exception to an otherwise non-white rule, an aberration, an anomaly, and that he or she will be able to join the ranks of Tim McVeigh. And white privilege is being able to know nothing about the crimes committed by most of the terrorists listed above — indeed, never to have so much as heard most of their names — let alone to make assumptions about the role that their racial or ethnic identity may have played in their crimes.
I learned my lesson. This could be another Breivik! And Boston … is the center of this patriot movement and patriot feeling. Despite there being almost no information about who caused the Boston Marathon bombings, news observers and pundits are quick to place the blame on groups of people, including Islamic terrorists, right-wing extremists, and even the federal government.
The list-of-things-that-also-happened-in-April theme smacks of JournoList -like group-think and collusion. Where are the mainstream jewsmedia pundits speculating that muslims or the feds are responsible?
They are white, right-wing Americans, nearly all with an obsessive attachment to guns, who may represent a greater danger to the lives of American civilians than international terrorists. The Southern Poverty Law Center, which has been tracking hate groups for 30 years, released its latest report on the growth of these organizations this week.
Its findings were, to say the least, alarming. What can be done to reverse this tide of belligerent ignorance? Not much. The typical patriot acts within his free-speech and 2nd Amendment rights, and in fact most patriot activity consists of venting steam by meeting with like-minded Neanderthals and firing off blog posts threatening civil war.
Yet such blather tends to get under the skin of the Timothy McVeighs of the world. These groups should be closely monitored, with resources adequate to the task, even if it means shifting some homeland security money from the hunt for foreign terrorists.
On obvious staged event to blame defenders of the Constitution, gun rights, Christians. Gun rights and your freedom are at stake as they try to justify rolling out TSA or others.
Defense of the 2d Amendment—ground zero for White America. Suffice to say that the level of official unknown expressed by the FBI puts all the feverish anti-White jewsmedia punditry cited above in its proper context. If it actually does turn out to be a White bomber they will retroactively claim it was justified. If it turns out they were completely wrong, oh well, next story.
All possibilities are on the table. But I think that what comes out of this, is the idea that this has really become the new normal in America. The news is now defined as these kinds of mass events of death and destruction and mayhem. Shocked, but not surprised. As we move forward from this, one of the things I hope we discuss is: How has this become the new normal in America?
