Champs austin chamber music

The goal of the festival was to provide entertainment and education for the audience members. The workshop enrolled 49 students in the young artists division and 35 students in the primary division 21 students were enrolled for half days; 14 enrolled for full days. In addition to the regular faculty, 30 other visiting artists enhanced the curriculum, giving masterclasses, presentations, and chamber music coaching sessions.

The core curriculum each day included chamber music coaching, enrichment classes in rhythm, improvisation, music appreciation, and composition; and a large ensemble.

The workshop concluded with 10 student concerts, including 2 in community centers, and 3 in assisted living centers. The goals of the classes were to enhance the students' knowledge and love of chamber music. The september to may classes included saturday classes for young artists. Master classes and four final performances, including two in assisted living centers, were part of the program each semester. The academy also provided in-school coaching for band and orchestra students in four schools.

Within a span of just ten minutes, the listener is taken from a tender and melancholy theme to a rhapsodic variation, a dancing variation, a jocular variation, a breathtaking toccata, and finally an ecstatic recapitulation of the original theme. It is a remarkably compact, and completely compelling journey. Beethoven wrote his sonata for Op. While Beethoven's compositional abilities were in no way diminished by his condition, his emotional fortitude was severely tested.

The c-minor sonata seems to have been an outlet for Beethoven's anger, frustration and fear. From the very beginning, it is overwhelmingly intense. In this glorious piece, it would seem as though Mendelssohn was determined to demonstrate that with just three instruments, he could achieve levels of drama and expressivity which equaled or perhaps even surpassed that of his magnificent symphonies and oratorios.

This is a program you don't want to miss! Salon Concerts' intimate setting in a beautiful Austin home is the perfect venue for chamber music. Our sumptuous post-concert buffet with fine wines will make this a completely joyful experience for you. I look forward to seeing you there! Jordan is a student of Michael Kris. Cindy Xu is a first-year student from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Cindy started playing the double bass her freshman year of high school under the guidance of Yung-Chiao Wei.

Prior to switching to the double bass, Cindy studied the piano and violin, making the switch in high school due to a lack of double bass players in her orchestra. Throughout the summers, Cindy further committed to her passion for the double bass by attending programs such as the Master Players Festival and the Interlochen Arts Camp. Funded by grants and donations, the program is completely free to participating students and schools. Before the school year begins, CHAMPS Director, Jephta Bernstein, contacts orchestra directors from middle and high school programs in the Austin, Eanes, and Round Rock public school districts inviting them to participate in our program.

Challenging chamber music is selected to suit the immediate needs of each individual group.
